PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 26 July 2026
What we collect
- Contact details — your name and phone number, when you message us on WhatsApp, sign in to the app with your phone number, or book an errand.
- Errand details — pickup and delivery landmarks, what you ask a rider to do, and delivery outcomes. If someone abroad books an errand for you, we hold the details they give us about the delivery.
- Payment records — the amount, payment method (mobile money or cash), and a transaction reference. We never see or store your mobile money PIN. Card payments made from abroad are processed by our payment providers, not stored by us.
- Rider information — for riders: identity verification, plate number, background-check status, delivery history, and earnings records.
- Technical basics — anonymous page-view and button-click counts on this website. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no sale of data — ever.
Why we collect it
- To run your errand: matching a verified rider, coordinating pickup and delivery, and confirming payment.
- To keep the service safe: rider verification, fraud prevention, and an audit trail of financial actions.
- To meet legal obligations, including financial record-keeping.
- To improve the service, using aggregate, non-identifying usage counts.
Who sees your information
- Your rider sees your first name, delivery landmark, and — once assigned to your errand — a way to contact you about the delivery. Riders browsing available jobs do not see your contact details.
- Payment providers (mobile money aggregators, card processors) receive what is needed to process a payment.
- Service infrastructure — our systems run on Google Cloud. Data may be processed on Google Cloud infrastructure in the africa-south1 (Johannesburg) region.
- We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
How long we keep it
Errand and payment records are kept for as long as required for financial record-keeping and dispute resolution. Account details are kept while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data, subject to records we are legally required to retain.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to its processing. Message us on WhatsApp at +256 763 987 409 and we will respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO).
Children
GoBodaGo is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will post the new version here with a new date.
